Sand Creek Raiders' History
Sand Creek Raiders were founded in 1996 by Sweetwater Bill, Bat Masterson, Dr. Dave, Coyote Mike, Cactus Jim, Manhunter, Lazy S, Mugs DeWitt, Easy Money, Dakota Smith, Winchester Man & Jim Leahy.
The first Posse Member to be elected on 04/09/97 was Finneous McCree.
The Sand Creek Raiders held their first matches at the Aurora Gun Club.
Sand Creek Raiders have been responsible for many firsts in both Colorado and SASS.
The Sand Creek Raiders hosted the first Rocky Mountain Regional Raid in 1997. This has been noted one of the first SASS Regional Matches.
In the Summer of 2000 the Sand Creek Raiders held their first Wild Bunch Match. The Sand Creek Raiders Wild Bunch match was created by Bat Masterson.
In 2006 the Sand Creek Raiders moved to the Colorado Rifle Club and held their first match there on 03/26/06.
Cowboy Action Shooting
You've heard about it, you've read about it, you may have even seen it on TV.
Cowboy Action Shooting™ is a multi-faceted shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West: single action revolvers, pistol caliber lever action rifles, and old time shotguns.
Now it's your turn to join the Sand Creek Raiders at our monthly gathering of notorious lawmen, shootists, and gun fighters in conjunction with and under the rules laid down by the Single Action Shooting Society.
Wild Bunch Action Shooting
SASS Wild Bunch™ Action Shooting is a multifaceted amateur shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West just after the turn of the 20th century: 1911 semi-automatic pistols, lever action rifles, and Winchester Model ‘93/’97 and Model -12 pump shotguns. The shooting competition is staged in a unique, characterized, Old West style.

- Safety first, last and always…..
- Eye and ear protection is mandatory…….
- Lead ammo ONLY…
- 1000 fps max pistol, 1400 fps max rifle…….
- Shot shells light trap loads only……
- Three gun match, you will need:
- Rifle (lever & pump action ) pistol caliber.
- Shotgun (side by side, exposed hammer pump or lever action) 20 gauge or larger
- Two hand guns (single action) .32 caliber or larger.
